About

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness marked by pronounced fluctuations in mood and significant changes in energy and activity levels, which can impair an individual's ability to perform everyday activities. Also known as manic-depressive disorder, bipolar disorder causes rapid shifts between episodes of heightened euphoria or excitement (mania) and periods of profound sadness or hopelessness (depression). These alternating states can have a profound impact on a person's emotional well-being and overall functioning.

Why Ketamine Infusion for Bipolar?

Unlike traditional antidepressants and other commonly prescribed medications for bipolar disorder, the use of ketamine for the treatment of bipolar depression can provide significant relief in a matter of hours. Many individuals experience a reduction in symptoms within a few days after their second ketamine infusion, without having to worry about the typical side effects associated with conventional antidepressants. Ketamine therapy offers a promising alternative for those seeking relief from bipolar depression, with rapid onset of effectiveness and a potentially more tolerable side effect profile.

WHAT TO EXPECT

An experienced Nurse Practitioner, certified by the board, will administer the ketamine to you via an intravenous (IV) infusion. Ketamine has a well-established safety record, but our team will closely monitor your heart rate and blood pressure every 15 minutes throughout the process. To ensure precise dosing, the ketamine is delivered through a pump. The entire treatment, including recovery time, typically lasts around 90 minutes. While undergoing the infusion, you may have an introspective experience, but your mental clarity should return within 15 minutes after the infusion concludes.

Treatment is 6 infusions over 12 to 14 days During this timeframe, our dedicated team will closely monitor you to assess the effectiveness of each treatment, offer ongoing support, and help you achieve the best possible results.

It is important to note that some patients may experience significant relief after a single infusion, while others may require three or four infusions to experience relief. In certain cases, depressive symptoms may improve gradually over a period of 7 to 10 days following the treatment.
