About

PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) is a prevalent anxiety disorder that can occur following a traumatic or life-threatening event. It is not uncommon for individuals to develop PTSD symptoms even by witnessing a traumatic event, as the shock itself can trigger the onset of PTSD symptoms.

Although PTSD is commonly associated with veterans, police officers, and firefighters, it is important to recognize that many individuals who have experienced or witnessed traumatic events can also suffer from this disorder. Untreated PTSD can have severe consequences, including recurring intrusive memories, avoidance behaviors, feelings of hopelessness, detachment from loved ones, intense depression and anxiety, and even thoughts and actions related to suicide. It is crucial to provide appropriate treatment and support to those affected by PTSD to help mitigate these harmful effects.

Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) is a crucial protein in the brain that plays a significant role in the development and upkeep of neuronal dendrites and synapses, which are essential for healthy brain connectivity. To maintain a balanced mood, it is necessary for neurons in different regions of the brain to establish connections through dendrites and synaptic contact. Childhood stress and anxiety causes inhibition of BDNF production can lead to observable changes in neuroanatomy and contribute to the development of serious mood disorders, including Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and anxiety disorders. These conditions are influenced by disruptions in brain connectivity and the subsequent impact on mood regulation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

An experienced Nurse Practitioner, certified by the board, will administer the ketamine to you via an intravenous (IV) infusion. Ketamine has a well-established safety record, but our team will closely monitor your heart rate and blood pressure every 15 minutes throughout the process. To ensure precise dosing, the ketamine is delivered through a pump. The entire treatment, including recovery time, typically lasts around 90 minutes. While undergoing the infusion, you may have an introspective experience, but your mental clarity should return within 15 minutes after the infusion concludes.

Treatment is 6 infusions over 12 to 14 days During this timeframe, our dedicated team will closely monitor you to assess the effectiveness of each treatment, offer ongoing support, and help you achieve the best possible results. It is important to note that some patients may experience significant relief after a single infusion, while others may require three or four infusions to experience relief. In certain cases, depressive symptoms may improve gradually over a period of 7 to 10 days following the treatment.
